So D -DAy has finally arrived!!
We're delighted to announce the name change we've being dying to tell you about...press release here will give ya all the news you need to know!!
Press Release
STAGGER LEE IS DEAD! LONG LIVE THE DAGGER LEES!
Irish rock'n'roll noir four piece announce name change & the recording of their debut album with legendary Detroit producer Jim Diamond of White Stripes, Von Bondies & Electric Six fame.
This female fronted, screaming feral blues, white-hot soul racket began life in 2006 as Stagger Lee, and made waves in 2007 with the release of their debut single 'Bad Shoes' on their own label, Split Lip Records. The single reached no. 5 on Irelands indie chart.
The band, delighted to confirm the recording of their debut album in the USA with Jim Diamond, face legal difficulties with future releases if they continue under the name Stagger Lee. And so, in a storming sea of change, the Dagger Lees are born!
In embracing the new name, the Dagger Lees look forward to kicking down the doors of what has gone before, parting ways with the past and are spending the summer writing and pre-producing their album.
The Dagger Lees sound still embodies the spirit of Robert Johnson's Devil-at-the-crossroads and Mavis Staples sultry gospel cry with a passionate lust for some god-damn rock and roll!
The Dagger Lees are also delighted to announce the inclusion of their track Scarlet Fever on the forthcoming US film release by punk rock film company Vivid Alt. They've made several TV appearances on Irish television already this year and the video accompanying their debut single in 2007 has become a YouTube cult classic with over 68,000 views, as well as being short-listed in the London Portobello film festival.
Having played with international acts such as The Kills, Jon Spencer Blues Xplosion, The Duke Spirit, Sleater Kinny, The Grates, The Long Blondes, The Drones and The Von Bondies, The Dagger Lees are delighted to have been invited back to play the beautiful Speigeltent in Dublin in September 2008 and a slot at Glasgowbury Festival 2008.
Stay tuned to www.myspace.com/thedaggerlees for updates and sneak previews of demos for the album and join the mailing list thedaggerlees@gmail.com to be the first to hear about upcoming news and gig dates.
The Dagger Lee's are coming for you!

BIg news is a comin for camp Stagger Lee folks! We're pretty delighted to have agreed a well known (and fuckin amazing if we say so ourselves!) producer for recording our debut album in the States and we'll be announcing details on that very soon...but it has thrown up some issues for us that til now we've chosen not to be too concerned with. Basically there are a number of other artists, especially in America, performing or releasing material under the name Stagger Lee, or names very similar. It means that we'd have major major issues down the road with trying to release material outside of Ireland and at this stage it seems really foolish to not try to do something about that. We love our name and it sums up who we are, but we've faced the reality and agreed that the time has come for a new name, which gives us ample opportunity to come up with new art work, and a new logo (and we love that stuff!). The songs are the same, the blood, sweat and tears are the same...but of course we'll have a transition that we hope you'll make with us!
We've put out a call for graphic artists, designers and creative folk to get in touch with us if they are interested in coming up with a new logo for us.
We'll be releasing the new name, MySpace and what not over the next few weeks and would love to have our new logo ready for that sexy unveiling!! Do you have what it takes?
Get your fuckin shades on kids..the future's looking BRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!! An eventful few months it has been folks. We had a blast with the Von Bondies last month in Blefast and Dublin and played some of our best shows yet. It was lovely to meet the good folk of Belfast again ..and we're delighted to be heading back there tomorrow night (fri 7th March) to Laverys to play a headline show!
Tonight, however we play the first round of the Murphys Live competition which we are delighted to be a part of. Fingers crossed we get past this one...free tickets and free booze have been promised so we're expecting a good turn out!!
The brilliant Entertainment Architect people (thank you Bernie!) have been getting us radio interviews all over the place...we've been on Trinty FM, Belfied FM, Phantom and Dublin City FM in the past week.
In other news we're back in recording for our next release now adn hope to have some news on that for you good people real soon. Keep an eye out over Easter weekend for us on the Podge and rodge show...yikes!!!

Ahh Berlin baby..great city and the Stagger Lee camp had a ball. We thoroughly enjoyed our gig in White Trash - a fantastic venue - and had much fun drinking Pink Grease under the table!! Grum managed to dance on the bar and not fall over or get kicked out which is no mean feat considering the state we were in. We scoffed Elvis burgers and lots of good Japanese food too and got to visit some cool bars like 8mm and Club Rio. THanx to Conny and Wally for all of their hospitality!! Video footage abounds. We'll be back as soon as we can! photos will be up on the MySpace soon as we get over the hangover. Next up this friday we play the Boom boom room with Party weirdo. Doors 9pm. Next week we hit Lurgan yeowwww! xxxx
' 22/11/06
We'd a fine ol time in Derry at Sandinos - the Beatnik Soul guys that ran the night were a lovely lot and were most hospitable. They've asked us to come back up again in the new year and we most certainly will. Lorena Rushe (Music Photographer extraordinarie) had a 4 page spread in last Saturday's Irish Times which included her photo of Stagger Lee on the stairs of the Gaeity Theatre - one of our favourite photo shoots ever. Well done Miss Rushe! This week we are remixing the single set for release in February with the fabulous Leo Pearson in his Kilkenny Studios. THen on the 1st December we hit Berlin to play White Trash alongside Humanzi and Pink Grease. Grum is especially looking forward to getting a bit of German sausage into him and Justo is keen to seek out any rival German teen wolves! On our return we hope to be starting the filming of our debut video with the Love Action Ladies responsible for the fantastic Twinkranes video. We're out on the road again over December so keep an eye on the gig guide - we hope to see you then! xxx

Doors 9pm. We're out on the road again over December so keep an eye on the gig guide - we hope to see you then! xxx
